An arcade (deriving from the French) is a gallery of arches – a series of successive arches resting on columns.
For example, the Royal Arcade Norwich in England (1899) is a famous shopping centre where Victorian and Art Nouveau architecture come together to offer shoppers an artistic covered shelter.
An arcade of small arches is called an arcature and is used as a decorative motif. These motifs are often seen on fabrics and wallpaper. As is the case on this fantastic mouth-blown glass shade in opal white.
The fixture is bronze.
