Celebrate life! Dance the Charleston. Listen to jazz or blues. Put on a flapper dress or waistcoat. Put on a nice hat or decorate yourself with pearls or a long scarf. Love, intrigue, wealth, power, happiness and fate. All these ingredients are covered in the story of the book by F. Scott Fitzgerald, realized in 1925. The story takes place during the Roaring Twenties: Economic growth and increasing prosperity, technological innovations brought optimism and a modern life. Yet the story is above all an expression of true love....

In this period also a new art style "Art Deco" comes into being.

The name Art Deco is an abbreviation of the name of the international exhibition "L'Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriëls Modernes" held in Paris in 1925, where the new language of form was shown to an international audience for the first time. The style originated in Paris after the First World War, but has been applied almost universally, both in most European countries and in the United States. The application of monumental geometric forms, inspired by African folk art and as a logical consequence of Geometric Art Nouveau, is one of the main characteristics of Art Deco.

Often there are Parabolic shapes or geometric motifs, decorated with fans and feather patterns. Mother-of-pearl as an eye-catcher with the hue black or gold as an accent. All in ornamental and cubist lines.

Art Deco shapes as a beautiful backdrop can be seen in the movie The Great Gatsby! The story has been filmed 5 times and there are many theatre productions known. In 2013 Leonardo DiCaprio played the leading role.

The design team of Art Deco Trade was also inspired by the world famous film and designed several Coloured by Art© lamps that are very fashionable. Art Deco Trade is proud of the very good selling lamp the Gatsby! The series is now extended with the impressive parabolic lamp Carraway. The beautiful rainbow mother-of-pearl shades are reflected in all Art Deco models. The series includes: A wall lamp, clock, picture frame, panel and a mirror. There is a table lamp and there are several ceiling lamps and hanging lamps. All models match each other in shape and glass, but always show a different (colour) accent.

Dream away in an extravagant and harmonious interior! Thanks to Coco Chanel, Louis Armstrong and Frank Lloyd Wright.
