Tiffany Coloured by Art© products are beautiful to see through the many artfully colored pieces of glass. That requires good care!
A layer of safety
After production, the glass is provided with an oil-based protection layer. This gives the glass a beautiful gleam and the product is extra well protected. Because of this the glass can feel greasy.
Caution: do not use aggressive detergent to remove the oil. The excess oil can best be removed with - strange but true -, a natural oil. This way the soldering work is freshened up and the glass is no longer greasy. The Tiffany artwork can be refreshed over time with a damp cloth and mild detergent, for example a little dishwasher detergent.
What oil can best be used?
Natural oil responds best to the pieces of copper foil/lead. Regular olive oil or salad oil can be used for this. Art Deco also offers a natural oil. After cleaning, the oil can be reused to give the soldering work a deeper shade.
